Anguilla is only 26 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide but has 33 beaches. This Caribbean Island is offering the Beyond Extraordinary Anguilla program which allows digital nomads to reside in this British Overseas Territory between 91 days to 12 months. If you are planning to work from Anguilla for up to 90 days you can do that on a tourist visa.
The successful applicant and their dependents (if any) will be expected to pay Income Taxes in the countries in which they are normally resident. No personal income tax is payable to Anguilla. However, applicants are not allowed to work for nor to drive any income from any local entity.
Employers of remote workers are not required to register or have a local payroll. What that means is that it’s safer for the employer to let their employees work remotely from Anguilla, which in turn makes it easier for aspiring digital nomads to negotiate remote work arrangements with their employers.
However, it’s worth remembering that nomad visas don’t erase all of the risks for employers (such as permanent establishment, the duty of care, etc). These can only be assessed by your employer’s legal/tax teams.
Anguilla is a genuine tax haven for non-residents or residents, there are no personal or corporate income taxes, capital gains, sales tax, or other forms of direct taxation on either individuals or corporations.
That said, it’s worth noting that Anguilla is on the EU “blacklist” of non-cooperative jurisdictions. All personal effects must be declared and the necessary payments of import taxes made to the Customs Department.
Additional taxes to be aware of include: Accommodation tax at 10% charged to visitors, Tourism Levy, annual Villa Rental Fees of about US$ 1.5K.
The following are the required documents to apply:
You can review the entry documents requirements here or check the visa application process from your respective country on the gov.uk website.
Each applicant (as well as each family member) will also need to submit:
After the submission, applicants will be requested to make the fee payment and send through the evidence that the fee was paid for each applicant and/or dependents.
During the process, applicant(s) will be contacted via visa system or email to supply any other information, as well as give you payment instructions. An electronic travel authorization certificate will be issued to your email address if your application was successful.
After arrival, you will need to fill out Customs Form for all personal items you have brought to Anguilla. Yes, it does includes e.g your hairdryer and all the clothes too! The duty most likely will only be paid on the new items though.
For those who want to proceed, a visa fee is payable with the application. Fees are:
All the details of the program, including How to Apply are available on the government website: Anguilla Beyond Extraordinary
Visa holders and their dependents will have access to the medical facilities but only the private ones or they will have to pay the fees in public clinics and hospitals that are applicable to any non-residents.
Medical insurance is required as part of the application process and it needs to cover COVID-19 medical costs and full hospitalization, doctors’ visits, prescriptions, and air ambulance.
Visa holders will be able to travel into and out of the country as they wish for the whole duration of their visa and there are no time limits. That said you need a lease/rental agreement in order to apply for the visa, so if you need to keep the accommodation or not will be according to the terms of your lease or rental agreement.
Children of the visa holders can attend the local private school for the duration of the visa or public ones but in both cases, they will have to cover the fees.
All non-resident applicants must apply via the Department of Immigration for the child/children and will need to complete an application form and provide needed documents (Immunization Record, School Reports).
Once approval is provided for them to attend school in Anguilla, it’s possible to apply for Home Schooling Application if a private institution is their preferred choice.

There are two main providers of mobile and wifi internet Digicel & Flow, they claim to have speeds of up to 100Mbps on their website but when you check with them directly realistic speed is up to 50 Mbps and that would come at the price of about US$150 per month.
