We’ve reached out to Barbados Tourism Contact Center to get the latest stats on the number of applications for the Barbados Digital Nomad Visa called Barbados ‘Welcome Stamp’. We wanted to find out how popular their program is and estimate how much have Remote Workers contributed to the local economy.
They have kindly sent us the stats compiled by Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., from the data received from the Barbados Immigration Department. Here are the details!
How many Applications have been approved?
The Welcome Stamp Programme was introduced in July 2020 by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley. In July 2021, the Senate passed the Remote Employment Amendment Bill, 2021, which allowed for the extension of the existing legislation governing the Welcome Stamp.
As of December 31, 2021, Barbados’ 12-month Welcome Stamp Programme has received 3,257 applications, and of those applications, 2,163 were approved.
The Welcome Stamp Programme seeks to assist in “diversifying the island’s tourism product, attract a new type of visitor, and generate foreign exchange.”
